Journey to the center of the earth
#365030 - 04/08/17 11:31 PM

Have fun getting hit by sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads and then eaten by giant venom spitting worms in the crust before you get engulfed by liquid hot magma in the mantle.

The Core new [Re: Renegade]

Pretty good movie, I think. Not sure if it was direct-to-DVD but I first saw it in the bargain bin. Wondered why I never heard of it (so it seems to me that it wasn't all that popular)

But on not knowing what's in the mantle... what exactly do they think they will find that's different from the lava flows of any active volcano? What happens if/when they get close enough that the magma pressure bursts through on its own, destroying whatever tool(s) they think they will be drilling into it with? Is their goal to make a man-made volcano?

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!

It was in theaters, and yes, it did rather poorly. I knew this, but had to Google, so:

Box office: 74 million USD
Budget: 115 million USD

Yeah.

I remember vaguely some details. As far as scifi movie goes, it was pretty bad. The first part where the inventor shows up the gadgets is hilarious. It didn't hold up much as 'adventure movie' either since all happens inside a magmaship and there weren't any attacks from *mutant* sharks spreading some laser mayhem.

All in all pretty badly wasted cast, which I remembember was pretty good. Delroy Lindo as the inventor.
