#362408 - 01/10/17 08:04 PM

CAPS0ff are disclosing what they currently know about which chips that have suffered some sort of anomaly either before or after acquisition.

it's nice to see such a professional approach being taken, a real contrast with recent updates at certain other places which just appear to be unprofessional and childish attempts to make others look bad.

but yeah, most important thing to take from this is that there are always risks involved, and some of these chips don't behave quite as well as they should under the stresses involved, even if some of that was just initial investigation done prior to the chips being received by Caps0ff

also that sometimes the manufacturers liked to play dirty tricks at the factory.

Really enlightening article. One question, though:

For the chips that are dead, can we assume that Caps0ff is going to need working PCBs from those particular games, then? Maybe something else? Nothing at all?

For example, I can't imagine there are too many Joshi Volleyball or Great Swordsman PCBs left that won't be staunchly hoarded and kept away from anyone Mame-friendly.

(Of course, if I'm wrong about that, then someone please correct me...)

Yeah, this news is VERY sad for me as it was MY donated Great Swordsman board that those chips were from!
