How to make xbox controller working with MAMEUI64?

Basically I got Galaga running on MAMEUI64 and I have a wireless Xbox 360 controller that is more or less semi-working. I can press some buttons on the remote and get it to insert coins and start the game. But, I can't seem to control the left or right, and the fire button. I've read this doc

and understands that MAME64UI needs a controller mapping file done correctly in the CTRLR folder. I've tried to map it without any success. All I want is be able to either move the D-Pad or the Analog on the left side of Xbox 360 to direct Galaga fighter jet left & right, and use the A button to fire.
Can someone help? How do I go about making a CFG file for this purpose in the CTRLR folder?

just press TAB while in-game and setup your controls for all machines - Input (General) or for one particular machine - Input (this Machine).
