Saving "Slot Device" Settings?

Hi all, Not sure if this is possible, or if I'm just missing something...But is there a way to save "slot device" settings so you do not have to go back in and reconfigure them every time? For instance, A2600 - Omega race, It uses the Joy Booster for two buttons. But when you exit, it goes back to joy. Save state does not work for this. Can anyone give me some insight on this?
Thanks in advance!

You need to create an "a2600.ini" file with the following lines:
Code:
# # SLOT DEVICES # joyport1 joybstr joyport2 cartslot
# # IMAGE DEVICES # cartridge "enduro (1983) (activision, larry miller) (ax-026, ax-026-04).bin"
The first (not commented) line is what you are looking for. The last line it's for showing you can load an image right at the start. In case you ask how I generated the INI file I did a "mame64.exe a2600 -cc" command line, renamed the created "mame.ini" to "a2600.ini" and deleted everything else above "# SLOT DEVICES". Make sure to create a backup first so you don't lose your settings.

This post has been very helpful for me, simply trying to enable two players lol.
But my question is, is there a way to have your normal settings, then have alternate settings load on a per game basis?
Like for my a2600.ini file all I did was copy these lines: # # SLOT DEVICES # joyport1 joy joyport2 joy cartslot
And now player 2 works finally (thanks for that). But how would I go about doing what superdave wanted to do, for that game only? Is there a way?
