Running SNES games via command line
#360448 - 11/18/16 06:35 PM

NOOB command line question... I'm trying to run a snes game through command line in MAME but it refuses to accept my parameters, so I'm clearly doing something wrong here. Please help!!

My game file is placed in the ROMS folder and it's called rb.sfc. How do I run it in MAME through command line?

Thanks RB, the parameter is correct, however I'm trying to run it with MAME 0.172 and for some reason it crashes when trying to run the game. I'll have to test it with another version.

I'm trying to identify which MAME runs Rushing Beat correctly, since it's not working with the current version (black screen). I've reported it at MAMEtesters as well but I want to mark it as a regression.

The goodset version works with the latest MAME where the version in the softlist produces a black screen if I'm reading all this correctly.

Rushing Beat Ran - Fukusei Toshi\Rushing Beat Ran - Fukusei Toshi (J) [!].smc

CRC32: 8F35EBE0
MD5: 93091900AC3B48F7B348F62026D4D2C7
SHA-1: 2B382B1D0DFBBDC810D28A8F6E0821B8E3734C48

In addition to what Arbee has said; to run loose software you can simply run *mame64 snes* then you'll be presented with a file browser where you can navigate and select an image. After that's done use reset option and you're good.

This game you are running is the 2nd one in the series I believe. The one that is not working since MAME 0.175 is the 1st game, called Rushing Beat. Have you tried that one as well with your current MAME version?

Thanks for the tip on loading snes games through a file browser.

Okay, after consulting google it's in the Rival Turf! archive of goodset.

Rushing Beat (J) [!].smc
CRC32: A6F0693D
MD5: EE392BDCD28D073585F198CE9187456F
SHA-1: 19CA57776D3B3CDBC8CC3444CB26E7DE1E40E9B9

This ROM works in 0.174 but doesn't work in 0.175
