Precise translation for "Istrebiteli" or cyrilic "Истребители" is : Exterminators/Destroyers.

Wrong, it's "Fighters". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighter_aircraft

Read carefully ! - From Your link :
"...Exceptions include Russian, where a fighter is an "истребитель" (pronounced "istrebitel"), meaning "exterminator"..."

wrong, "(Jet) Fighter aircrafts" is correct translation, it means aircraft type mainly targeted for destroying enemy aircrafts.

and I'm second native russian speaking person who tell you this here

I am Macedonian and I know what I am talking about.
My translation refers to a literal meaning of the word "Истребители", not to a type of air crafts :
истребит - to destroy, to exterminate
истребление - destruction,damage,extermination

For example, You can't translate from english SHARK as aircraft because there is airplane with that name; but the translation from SHARK should be акула.

P.S. Sorry, I am using Macedonian cyrilic font instead of Russian, but that's almost the same language (Slavic)

If pcb hardware is similar to Atari Jet Fighter, fortunately the src/mame/drivers/atarittl.cpp is ideal file for documenting roms and proms of non-cpu Atari/Atari-like games, so Istrebiteli can be in that file for time being until more discrete TTL support happens sometime later.

Nope.....more closer to Atari Jet Fighter which is supported in Adam's DICE discrete / non-cpu games emulator. The closest game, appearance-wise, and currently emulated in MAME could be Time Pilot.

Ace and Bi-Plane gameplay is somewhat different.

Nice Find, but Jet Fighter doesn´t have colours.

Atari Jet Fighter cab has a bezel piece that has artificial clouds drawn on to the plexiglass bezel piece to provide the cloud images. It didn't have any color transparent overlay piece compared to the USSR region game which appears to use a color transparent overlay piece to provide the blue color visual effect.

As for Allied Leisure's Ace, it still has not been determined/verified how the cab and its bezel piece handled the color visual effect. There were a couple cab photos from years earlier, but not conclusive iirc. The Ace flyer tries to show how the cab would appear, but it is only an illustration and not the final product. iirc hap had removed the blue color layout file from MAME support some time ago because someone had used the color from the flyer iirc. What is needed is actual bezel piece scanned and supported instead of being guessed.

Trying to find parts for some of the Allied Leisure video games is a challenge these days.

Video new [Re: gregf]
#359024 - 09/27/16 04:10 AM

I found a video of the Истребители game (actually a walk through of the entire Soviet arcade museum). Истребители begins at about 20:45 (right after a motorcycle game that seems to be based on the same hardware). I can't tell if there's a blue overlay or if that's just the tint of the monochrome monitor.

Many of these Soviet arcade cabinets are so rare that they must be worth a pretty penny.

yes, game logic looks like Atari JetFighter but PCB is not some Atari clone. it have CPU (i8080 clone) so it can be emulated.

Two versions of this game are rumored to have existed, one is discrete logic like gregf suggests, one is the TIA-MC1 hardware as you mention.

then I'm afraid they wrong, this is not TIA-MC1 hardware, but much simpler - here we have CPU-controlled 4x sprite (2x airplanes and 2x theirs projectiles), one line of text (game score, insert coin text, etc) and discrete sound.

there also known similar looking airplane game and cabinet, but its electro-mechanic (no any CRT display), played it a lot then was a kid )

not sure its truth about some similar game exists for TIA-MC hardware.

Good to know that Istrebiteli has a chance to be supported sooner compared to Atari Jet Fighter. I just noticed Istrebiteli has its own source file. Good luck getting the game to a working state.

As for discrete audio, that will be a chore for having to document each of the audio sound effects to determine which adjustable pot each sound effect goes to since some pots might adjust audio frequency pitch (high or low) while other pots control individual volume output of each sound effect. I don't remember game name, but one of the Midway 8080 games had 7 to 8 different sound effects with each adjustable pot able to control volume output or frequency pitch. Derrick Renaud and Zsolt Vasvari were scratching the surface when they did their discrete audio work with Midway 8080 hardware games back in 2007.

Hard to tell if Istrebiteli uses a blue color transparent (acetate) sheet taped to backside of the plexiglass bezel. To me, the photo looks like there is one, but when watching videoclip, it doesn't look like there is a blue overlay piece. If the upright cab (bezel) does use an overlay piece, fortunately the color can be handled with an internal artwork layout file.

I like the motorcycle game myself. It seems more interesting.....such as an Exidy Death Race like kind-of-game. *kidding*

The videoclip makes it a challenge when comparing to the photo. I am still guessing blue overlay piece myself.
