Hi everyone,
I'm running Ubuntu 16.04, compiled mame 0.176, placed it in $HOME/.mame and configured everything in mame.ini
From terminal giving the following command "$HOME/.mame/mame64 rtype" gives me the following
Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/gui_opaque.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/gui_blend.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/gui_multiply.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/gui_add.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/screen_opaque.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/screen_blend.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/screen_multiply.json Unable to open effect file bgfx/effects/screen_add.json MAME exception: BGFX: Unable to load required shaders. Please check and reinstall the bgfx folder
if I switch the video from bgfx to opengl in OSD VIDEO OPTIONS, the above command launches the game just fine.
By the way if I type the above command from within mame folder or double click mame64 from nautilus, bgfx works.
Is there a way to set bgfx directory in mame.ini ?
I appreciate any help.

bgfx_path which defaults to a "bgfx" folder where MAME executable resides.

As it turns out out, it was a stupid question because I thought the bgfx directory was to be found in path or directory options.
Anyway thanks Tafoid!
