Using MAME to emulate computer systems?

I've heard that MAME can emulate computer systems as well as arcade games. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding the information to do this.
How can I use MAME to emulate a TRS-80 Coco computer? How about an Atari 800? Vic 20?
Any pointers are appreciated!

Provided you have the proper bios/romsets needed to run those machines, they should show up as available in your gamelist when you run MAME. It is just a matter of starting the emulation from there and then going to the file manager and selecting the software you wish to use.
