Likely Smit's comedy attempt to do word/number play with Four Play versus John's Roman numeral "IV"....but Smit forgot to add the graemlin because Smit's attempt struck out. ;-)
The actual game name is Player's Choice and model units such as cocktail and bar/table tops were listed as Player's Choice while the upright/cabaret model was marketed as Four Play even though the game it was running was Player's Choice.

Good to see this now supported.
I had originally thought it was Four Play until seeing the flyer and noticing the actual name is Player's Choice.

Well....unless the Merit marketing sales staff was describing the dice images in one of the games. They must have been desperate of finding some way of appealing to customers to "PLEASE BUY OUR PRODUCT! WE'RE MUCH BETTER THAN THAT DAMN COMPETITOR COMPANY GRAYHOUND INC. !".

It's a 1983 games, you had to use your imagination back in those days, ya know.

While this was made by a MAMEdev (and IIRC the funny story with this one is it got sent half way around the world for Guru to dump) it does actually belong in MAME under current policy, as it was sold for use on PCBs as a kit.
It was vetoed at the time because I believe the guy who made it expressed in private that he didn't want it in MAME (I believe that was this one, although I could be wrong, possibly just due to policy at the time) but really it should be there.

Yeah, I misinformed The DU with the game name. I picked up one of the cabarets in a little package deal with a Moon Cresta cocktail. I bought it strictly for the 13" color monitor. I never tested the board. I just pulled it and dumped the ROMs. Because the marquee on the cab said "Four Play" I assumed the game did, also.

That Merit marketing/cab naming scheme fooled me as well when I was searching about it several years earlier. iirc I had noticed an old ebay listing of a bezel and marquee combination listing of Merit Four Play parts many years ago and was wondering what exact Merit game it was and then noticed an advertising flyer on TAFA back when Dan H. was in charge of TAFA (arcade flyers) web site

Thanks for sending that in. Finding any remaining pcbs of early 1980s era Merit games seems to be getting a bit more challenging these days.
