HLSL issue in 173

Hey guys (esp Jezze),
In 173 HLSL settings from a previously-closed game are 'remembered' by the next game I run. I know this was a problem but I though it had been fixed for 173, is this not the case or is it a new problem?

I'm not sure if you think it's an issue that the settings remain after you select a new machine or that they not remain?
However the settings should not remain, they should be reset to the settings of the corresponding .ini files that are loaded for the new machine.

Yeah, I do consider it an issue that they remain. I like to tweak HLSL to suit each game/driver.
I know you thought you'd fixed the bug but I guess it's a tricky little sod to fix.

I can not reproduce this issue in 0.173 yet.
Could you please create a bug report on mametesters.org with all necessary information that lead to this behavior?

Well it's not just HLSL anyway, I still use custom .PNG artwork overlays from time-to-time, and whatever .PNG has been loaded first gets carried over when I select a new machine.
I think it happens even when I have some driver.ini's or game.ini's with different PNGs defined in my INI folder. Gotta double-check on that though.
So, well, for some reason in MAME a number of settings stick when selecting new hardware from the menu. Seems to lack a clear/flush function at that precise moment.
EDIT: might even triple-check but IIRC I might even have to exit the program to completely unload the settings before launching a new game.

A few/several cycles ago I noticed that when I loaded a new game, the image of the last one showed for a half second. With a totally fresh directory (only roms were added - no inis, etc) of .173 baseline and FX, and savestate and skip gameinfo selected, this doesn't happen. I'm guessing it is/was a sta thing.

hi all, necrobump for this because it's still happening to me (using 0.200 nao w/ several gamename.ini or driver.ini using various settings) having to restart mame every time is really unconvenient
