AC/DC hiring Axl Rose to replace Brian on vocals for the upcoming tour? That's a stupid inappropriate choice.

That's a holy shit on many levels, not the least of which is that GNR is also currently touring. I looked at the concert schedules, and it looks doable, given that both tours seem to have gaps that match up, but it also means that Axel will be one busy MF'er on the road. Hard to believe anyone would want to tour that much so tight.
Also, Brian has hearing issues? Yeah. You don't wear earplugs on stage, that is not a surprise but is expected. Like a hockey player too cool to wear a helmet, and no teeth.

He may have (that sort of rep will take a long time to go away). He seems to be doing shows with a broken foot. http://www.spin.com/2016/04/axl-rose-bor...eSpeed=noscript
It seems like an odd choice no the less.

Damn man. He is brave. That broken foot isn't gonna stop him.

AC DC would have been better off hiring a singer from one of those tribute bands. Fuck Axl Rose. Never could stand him.

I know AC/DC has had good luck with personnel changes in the past, but I think they really need to hang it up at this point. I mean, they kind of got away with replacing Malcolm Young, since they happened to have a spare Young kicking around. But replacing Brian Johnson with Axl Rose is just absurd. Guys, you rocked hard for 43 years, there's no shame in giving it up before you descend into pathetic self parody.

I feel like hearing damage in rock music is kind of like head injuries in the NFL. It's way more common and a far more serious problem than anyone would like to admit. With the kind of SPLs they push at rock shows, I'm not sure even earplugs offer 100% protection. To do it night after night for decades, there's going to be some damage pretty much no matter what you do.

AC/DC haven't been GOOD for years anyway. Old AC/DC songs are far better than the new stuff (the last good AC/DC song would have been released early 90s or so)

I dunno, if you listen to Back In Black and Highway To Hell back-to-back, Brian Johnson could do a pretty good Bon Scott. But if you throw Welcome To The Jungle on immediately after those two, Axl Rose does pull off a very similar vocal sound. I could certainly buy him performing as the vocalist for AC/DC.

I think Jimmy Barnes would have been a better choice.

Jimmy doesn't exactly have the best voice anymore, compare YouTube clips of Jimmy singing in the 80s and 90s with YouTube clips of Jimmy singing more recently to see what I mean...

This is why heavy equipment operators and engine mechanics (are or at least were supposed to) wear double hearing protection: in-ear, and over-ear. Even then, the operators get loss from the vibration of the vehicle.

AFD was a great album (their only good one), simply because of Axl's voice. He's a classic basso, with killer creamy falsetto.

Going off the dates on Wikipedia, the last good song AC/DC put out would probably be Thunderstruck released in 1990.

Nah, I'd consider Hail Caesar, released in 1995, to be their last good song. It's still over two decades ago now, so I think we're in agreement that they're well past it.

Nah, they were total, mainstream, cheese by then. All the white boys loved it, though. Especially in the Corps, Metal was scarce in them days. It was worse in that way than high school.
