As a runner I think I would still prefer to tighten my laces with regular ones to get the tension just right.

As a parent with a son with fine motor skill issues, these look great. I am going to order some ASAP!

I hadn't until now. I have some Lock Laces on a pair of trail shoes and haven't had any issues with them. I only bought them because the laces that came with the shoe were too short for a size 13 shoe. I haven't tried them on road shoes, I do worry a little bit about slippage.
