Namennayo (Cat's, 1982) - undumped and unknown outside Japan?

I may be missing something here, but while searching around recently, I realized that this undumped game (which has been known about for quite a while now in Japan) seems to be MIA on any of the western undumped/unmamed lists, so I thought I'd post about it here.
It's supposedly based on Radical Radial, but if so it was very heavily altered. The company name ("Cat's") seems more like a joke, so who knows who really made it. If you're unfamiliar with the whole "namennayo" thing, it was basically the early '80s Japanese version of "lolcats" (stupid pictures of cats dressed up as juvenile delinquent bikers, etc.) and was a big marketing fad for a while there. Bandai even released a handheld game based on it around the same time.
Anyway, as you'll see below, the game has been circulating in the Japanese arcade collector scene for a few years, and has shown up at a couple of arcade shows. I've seen the board listed on Yahoo Japan auctions a couple of times as well, for silly money. Here's a video from one of those shows, with a basically complete playthrough, as well as part of an online "strategy guide" for it with a picture of the game's instruction sheet:

Again, sorry if this is all old news here, but I strangely couldn't find anything about it in English...

By the way, I just noticed that you have it listed as a hack of Zippy Race. Is that true? I've seen some discussion of this on Japanese boards, and there was some indication that it was actually based on Radical Radial.

Considering the sources, it's quite possibly untrue. The guy who added that will surely see this message.
That wiki is "as truthful as it can be" but not something that's worthy of all that much citation yet. Depends on the article. Lots need work. This is why most pages just have the barest info.
Also, I'll add: there may be "mamedev" in the URL but don't consider it an official project deliverable. It's more like a "spinoff project". Still, myself and Osso work on it, and we're both on MAME team. Number of editors has varied but Diet Go Go Fan (just a regular MAME user like you who contributes metadata to arcade history projects) is most prolific editor right now.
If you'd like to contribute more directly to the wiki, there's a forum.

One has to have the same kind of luck, such as having all the correct numbers to win the USA/ Multi states PowerBall Lottery jackpot money prize, in order to find any game that Stiletto has never heard of before.
Good contributions there. ShimaPong had been sending in screen snaps from Japanese region magazines and other articles and posting here or sending to Bobby Tribble's UnMAMEd site in past years.

I've seen this for sale on yahoo japan. It's probably still on there because the seller had it up for the craziest price ever, like 10 grand or something. That makes the price even worse if it's a hack.

there there is quite a collection of what look like $10 hacks that sellers want 10k for.
Maybe some sellers just take the piss* find a random hack then ask that much for it, maybe some are actually considered 'Crazy Otto' level to the Japanese audience..
either way, I wouldn't consider it a great loss if they were lost, even yet another poker game is more interesting than a random graphic / maze swap.
*there are a couple of those outside of Japan too, as we've seen in the last week or two.

This isn't anything specific to game collecting. I collect public domain and questionable legality video releases of Mexican films and media; i've seen some sets be listed for hundreds of dollars for no reason at all. A very large chunk of these sets retailed for $10 or much, much less, and they were not rare by any means.
I spent six years tracking down a DVD set that only one guy had for sale... for $250. (I ended up grabbing it for $15 on eBay last year.)
TL;DR stupid people will jack up the price if anyone shows a bit of interest at all.

Market dictates the price - It's that simple; I can demand hundreds of $$$ for my old socks, but if no one is interested in buying, the price will definitely drop down.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You think the used arcade games section of yahoo japan works like general market:trade in sane countries lol no. You have people over there who put items on yahoo japan at retarded prices because they want to brag about owning it. You have half of them block deputy services from bidding because they will take less money if it means their item stays in japan. We are talking about a country that has a single word meaning hide rare things away and never let anyone see it, it's that far intertwined into their culture. Sorry but economics 101 doesn't help you in Japan.

Japan is insane on hiding their stuff. Even porn games.

but had no serious experience to point to. Simply, the world is getting weird like most people still don't know, and who still haven't and won't in their life read NEUROMANCER, or Brin's EARTH. Though these books aren't specifically accurate, they still point to or at least suggest many things on the horizon, especially socially.
