Did you know this "Lord of the Rings" book existed?

Not sure if it's any good yet... still reading. I'm a bit underwhelmed already.
Right off the bat I'm questioning the author's credibility after I see he titled Sauron as "Sauron the VIII". Why is he the VIII considering, to the Orcs, he should have been their first leader... at most their second, having been Morgoth's first Lieutenant. Who are the seven others who presumably preceded him?
[Edit]Also, in the book, Saruman talks with Gandalf... but in this age, as a member of the counsel, he was known as Olórin, not Gandalf. It was men who gave him that name later. The author did not do his homework. I'm not even that much of a LOTR geek, and I know this. Why am I still reading this?[/edit]
Anyway, I'm reading it.

From that book title. I always thought it the only evil ring that they had. Last doesn't count.

Tolkien himself began a sequel to LOTR called The New Shadow, which he eventually scrapped. Always leave 'em wanting more, as they say.

This Last Ring-Bearer you're reading just sounds like awful fan fiction.

When I first seen this from the Main Index, I thought someone had bumped your other (old) topic that has a similar title. ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
I think you were saying how the book was different from the movie.

It is. It is awful. I'm famous for finishing a book if I start it, but I can't finish this one. It sucks that bad. Sorry I brought it up.
The first chapter introduces two new characters... doesn't fully develop them, and then never refers to them again. It does nothing to move a plot along. What the hell, amateur-writer-man? You could cleave off that first chapter and never miss it. It's pointless.
By the third chapter, it's reading like a damn police report, just naming places, times, brief events, "Then Mr. Jones turned onto Maple avenue into the path of Lisa Pristine, knocking off her front bumper. Across town Larry Burger was having a heart attack, and taken to St. Jives Hospital, where he died."
Delete. Ignore. No value. My apologies.
