unfunny bit for the day: If supposedly a PSE "Game Tree" set of proms falls over and eventually gets documented into MAME's PSE.cpp source file by an emufriendly contributor ..... did Game Tree make a sound?

This is a great example of how important decent-quality PCB photos can be. You can see the wire run across the component side of the PCB for the extra address line of the expanded sprite ROM, and you can see that the end of it is soldered to an output pin of one of the sound latch chips. Without that I would've had to guess how the banking worked. A list of "important" chips is inadequate, there's far more you can glean from a proper photo.
