I think I'm learning Japanese

I really think so.
But seriously. I've ordered this and this - I guess to get a start somewhere.
Since I'm aware that about 3 or more of you around here are quite proficient in the Japanese language, would you have any recommendations for any other study material?

Japanese for busy people is definitely the book to get if you want to be speaking useful Japanese as quickly as possible. Try to get the kana edition rather than the romaji edition so you get used to reading hiragana and avoid using romaji as a crutch. Learning to read is something else entirely and I don't know what I'd recommend there besides hard work. Anyway, good luck with it.

Once you learn it. Your mouth will be speaking so fast that you out beaten the typewriter speed. Just like in the Godzilla movies.

Rosetta stone isn't bad either. Retail is expensive but depending on your morals, it isn't hard to find.

Yeah, I immediately thought that, too, and was gonna post the video........
You know, between that and Mr. Roboto (both of which I've recently-ish actually learned the lyrics to and all), I realize the late 70s/early 80s were as weird as I thought then. I just know why now.

I feel a bit 'Capt. Obvious' for posting the link, but better safe than sorry (like in a previous discussion on getting an external HD ).
That one? I'm guessing the workbook would be recommended as well....?
I could order it, but as long as I'm ordering from Amazon I might as well bundle up all I'd need in one delivery.
Re: Rosetta Stone... If that would require buying multiple courses... I think I'll hold off on that for now.

Yep, that's the one.
The kana workbook is supposed to help you practice writing in kana (hiragana/katakana), which may or may not be what you want. If you're perfectly happy to be super waapuro-baka it'd be completely unnecessary, and I'm sure you could practice writing kana without it. It's up to you whether you think it's a good investment or not.

You could bundle it up with book II or even books II and III if you plan to push through the first one quickly.

I haven't looked at Rosetta Stone in over a decade, but last time I did it seemed more focussed on bashing primary school vocabulary into your head than actually getting you speaking. If it hasn't improved, I wouldn't recommend it. (Of course it's possible it's been completely reworked since then.)
