I was just reading about this the other day. I hope they come back to the St. Louis area.

>I hope they come back to the St. Louis area.
That may be a lengthy wait. From what I notice, it appears only location is currently in Fountain Valley, CA , but I hope they have success and can expand to other parts of SoCal region within next couple years.
I wonder if the Naugles group talked to Dick Naugle's descendants, that operate Buns and Torts (Visalia, CA), to see about helping get involved in expansion of Naugles. Buns and Torts is said to use all same food ingredients and preparation methods just as if it were a Naugles outlet back in the 1970s and 1980s.

I don't know, but I'm about ready to jump on a plane for California to get a Beef Burrito with extra meat!

Bringing up an old, but worthwhile thread for any soCal residents that remember Naugles. An aquaintance said to me last week that it is worth going to and it works out that I have to be near Fountain Valley so I will give the place a try this week. For any soCal residents that used to frequent Naugles in 1970s and 1980s, drop by there and visit the place if nearby Fountain Valley.
>Only one test location in Fountain Valley (sort of within driving distance) and that is >only open on weekends as I understand. If anyone in soCal area went to Naugles during 1970s >and 1980s, go to Fountain Valley and try the place during weekend.

The location seems odd, a business office park? It doesn't look like the offices would even be equipped to cook on restaurant scale and I don't see any signage to catch people's eyes. I'm not a restaurant expert but that all seems wrong.

I agree, but the person(s) behind restarting Naugles is having to so call..."reverse-engineer" ingredients of the various food products that Naugles had marketed when Naugles was started by late founder Dick Naugle when he left Del Taco to start Naugles back in late 1960s. Naugles used to have dozens of locations before Naugles was bought out by Del Taco in mid 1980s.
Since the new founder of Naugles (fast food name was won in court battle 5 years ago) is starting things up from scratch, the office park location is probably more affordable compared to a corner location while the staff is probably still experimenting with food products that Naugles used to sell in 1970s and 1980s. The person I talked with last week said that this new Naugles ( "...they are getting there and improving the taste of some items." ) has almost perfected some of the food products that he remembered having back in 1970s. Between Naugles versus Del Taco back in 1970s, Naugles was far better at the time imo.
*update*
Went there last week (2-9-18), I ate earlier that day and decided to sample smaller size items on the menu such as a plain taco (meat only), hamburger (also plain) and fries and a drink.
Fries ($2.50) taste same as Del Taco (maybe same supplier?)
Hamburger ($5.00) tastes okay, but maybe not like what it used to be from (1970s and 1980s). Hard to tell imo since comparing tastes is 30 years or longer.
Taco ($2.50) maybe seems to taste better, but hard to say. Back in 1970s and 1980s, I would not buy a taco until family went to Hart's Burger Boy (closed long ago and a place that I really miss) because Harts had best tasting tacos imo.
True that the prices are more than Del Taco if comparing prices, but think of it as more if paying a bit more for the unique Naugle's taste experience. Some folks like myself are willing to do that. I still recommend going to Naugles if one is visiting for the day and is nearby in Fountain Vally area near 405 freeway. The person that I had visited a few weeks earlier was telling me that Naugles was worth the visit in his opinion. He was a fan of Naugles.
Manager told me that another Naugles building location is supposed to open somewhere in Huntington Beach sometime later.

All of the Del Taco's closed in the St. Louis area a couple of years ago. My brother in law and niece went to Vegas and ate there. Boy do I miss Naugles!
