Haze is reporting the hard work of ShouTime and the Dumping Union (with a whole list of people donating) to get SegaSonic Popcorn up and running.

Epic attract mode. That is in fact the most expensive and high quality attract mode that money can buy.

Needs more pingas. Can't have Robotnik without pingas.

I think the most interesting thing about this is that from the comments on my blog it does look like they made it to the UK at least..

one guy seems to be saying the UK version had a different sample rom tho, however another guy is saying he had a PCB that matches the MAME dump (could be official vs. unofficial imports I guess)

The thing people find interesting about this (and the Fantasy Zone game mentioned on the emuchat forum) is it has Sonic (or for Fantasy Zone an otherwise memorable game). The graphics and sound are awesome and on old arcade hardware never to be made again and it's rare forms of favorite characters and games. If it was random stupid characters instead of Sonic there would be 1% the interest. It's sort of similar to Ganbare Marin-kun, the hardware was CPS1 so it's of interest because its hardware is so widely loved that we want everything that ran on it.

It's not a game. It doesn't have gameplay.

Looking at the attract mode, i thought that you have to "help" sonic doing the popcorn (even if i think that you can't lose). I'm wrong ?

And "helping" Sonic or not, the outcome is the same. That's not gameplay, it's a temporary distraction.

So you're saying it's just a popcorning simulator?
