They can't compete on a porn level anymore since the rise of internet porn. I'm not sure if throwing out nudity is going to rebrand them but whatever, haven't picked one up since probably the 90s. It's still going to be an awkward magazine to have laying around and even if they make the website safe for work, who the fuck would visit it at work.

I think guys are too used to getting porn for free. It's just like with any other company that makes stuff you enjoy, if you want it to continue and thrive, you gotta support it and pay for it.

I think alot of it has to do with all the photoshopping done to the pics. Thats why other mags and on line sites have done better. I would rather see something real over a bunch of fake/photo shopped photos. Look at 10 magazine, its biggest draw was the fact it was real pics of real women.
I know its not the only reason but i think it has something to do with their decline thru the last few years...

Well, no, apparently you don't have to pay for porn anymore, that's kind of the whole point. Playboy is now redundant, so why bother supporting it or paying for it?

No-one bought Playboy for porn. The idea of Playboy was that guys would pick it up because of the nudes, but buy it for the articles. If you wanted a magazine to jack off to, Penthouse and Hustler were there for you. The trouble is, the quality articles in Playboy dried up years ago, taking away the reason guys actually paid money for it. And if it's just high-quality nude photos of women you want to pay for, the likes of MetArt and FEMJOY have been beating Playboy at that game for years.
Playboy hasn't been making money off their print magazine for years, and this is just a desperate move to try to stay relevant. The thing Playboy actually does make plenty of money off is branded merchandise with the bunny logo. Clothing, handbags, purses, pencil cases, you name it. And ironically most of it's being sold to women.

Of course. They love their sports trinkets......
I liked how it was expressed in The Huslter story on Netflix I saw a couple/few months ago: Playboy was the hot girl next door; Penthouse was the rich bitch who'd never fuck you; but Hustler.....that bitch you might be able to fuck.
Something like that. Back Issues: The Hustler Magazine story is great. No longer on Netflix, though......
