dm22a.1a for Daimakaimura. What does it do?

The file dm22a.1a is missing from the Daimakaimura dump. What exactly does it do? Is it related to the graphics/audio of the game or something?

No. It is a PLD. It isn't needed for emulation for this one, but there may be required data for other sets in pcbs they are present on. MAME tries its best to document and capture all data from the board, even that which might not contribute directly to emulation.

It's graphics/copy protection of its day. You can't just dump the chip, it takes custom hardware Charles made. Without it on a pcb the game would run with a black screen. MAME fakes its functions somewhere (fake the funk lol). Having the dump means people can make conversions, replace the chip if it fails on an original or maybe someday hook it up and have its code run instead of faking its functions.
