hey here is something to try: ------------------------------------- I was able to resolve this issue by disabling the "pepper" Flash player and installing the latest full version of Flash.
To do this, go to chrome://plugins/ in the Chrome browser and disable the Flash plugin that's there (the location will be something like C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\23.0.1271.64\PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll).
Once it's disabled you can go to youtube.com (or some other Flash-dependent website) and follow the hyperlinks provided to get the latest version of Flash (or just go directly to the Adobe Flash website and get it there).

I don't know what the fuck's going on with YouTube. The night before last it was stuttering badly for all videos on my Win7 machine (quad E5 Xeon) but playing fine on my MBP (four-year-old i7).

Heh. Is that the Chrome-specific version of flash that lets you view YT videos at 60fps?
Crap, I'm still fighting with the damn autoplay that can't be turned off. I've got two add-ons specifically for fixing YT, but they've lost that bit.

That autoplay is soooo annoying.

I get a toggle to turn off autoplay in the upper right corner of the screen. YT's announcement about autoplay had a screenshot with it circled, I think

Safari, at least on Yosemite, forces YT to the HTML5/h.264 player so QuickTime's hardware decoding comes into play. It's a much nicer experience than the Flash player.

Yes... on some pages. Not on playlists, though. I open YouTube, scroll through my subscriptions, and click "watch later" on everything I want to watch, typically 6-12 videos out of several pages. Then I watch one of them, fullscreen. And the next one starts, without even allowing a moment at the end to "like" them, let alone look at or post comments.

Ewwww, I *HATE* adobe software.
Adobe's Flash player is particularly rotten software: the constant and very annoying and extremely intrusive updates, the bugs, the crashes, the instability.
I have NO Adobe software on any of my PCs.
I watch quite a lot of YouTube videos (several a day on average), but I simply download them to my PC and watch them with good old VLC. Keep the ones I want to keep, re-watch any I want to watch again, copy any to USB or whatever for friends that may be interested, and delete the rest.

Yeah it can - don't install Adobe Crapware Flash. See above.

Amen to that. One of my favourite YouTubers never posts his videos in the right aspect ratio, which drives me nuts, so I started downloading his stuff to fix in VLC and now I do it for everything.
Youtube-dl.exe + VLC ftw.

Yes, because you're watching a playlist. YouTube has done that for years, this whole AutoPlay thing doesn't even enter into it.

I won't get rid of Flash until Twitch.tv upgrades to HTML5.
For some other weird reason, comments won't load for me on Youtube.

I've used the same system for years. The inability to turn off the autoplay has been around for months. They swapped out the "autoplay" button with a "repeat playlist" button.
