It's a 4chan meme. Like shoe on head it started off as something for raiding camwhore sites: "Put sharpie in pooper and I'll pay for private show!" but then when she does it, just take screenshot and post on /b/. Then it became first thing to request when someone is taking requests for pics to post.

I'm sure you're correct about the 4chan origins. However, on Reddit, it appears to be people just doing it voluntarily for the fun of it.
