Compiling MAME without CHD support

I would like to create a version that doesn't use CHDs so I can use it on my bartop. Any suggestions or is it against the rules?

Your question doesn't make any sense. I don't even know where to begin.

Tell us what you think "compiling MAME without CHD support" will allow you to do that you couldn't otherwise do.
