I believe the font used for "GAME" "SKILL LEVEL" "LAST" "START" "LONGEST" "ON" "OFF" is ITC Avant Garde, but the '1' doesn't match that font and is closer to certain other fonts. Since that font was revised a few times in the early 70s, this could be based on an older version of it.

But vectorizing would lose the 35-year-old patina of vintage plastic.
I haven't looked at MESS in years and had no idea it was emulating screenless devices until you posted this, so congratulations on gaining a new MESS fan. MESS only allows rectangular clickable areas, so the arc shaped buttons caused me some problems. The top two overlap the center area a bit, and the bottom two don't go all the way to the top to avoid overlapping the Last and Longest buttons. Generally, if you click anywhere in the center of the colored buttons, you're safe.

Here's the zip. Attachments still seem to be broken so this is an external link and may not last long.

I wish it were possible to have ability to vectorize some elements from an image such as grab portions needing to be vectorized, do the vectorization work and then paste the vectorized elements into an image that isn't vectorized, but probably not possible.
Great work there with image of Simon.

I would like to see your work in case MESS is able to emulate any of the Mattel Electronics handheld games sometime in the future. Those were my favorite games from late 1970s generation of handheld games.

For what it's worth: - the metal face panel in the original scan was kinda dangling, but the second scan with the switches the face panel was in the proper place. - the switches are not clickable/animated to set difficulty because (I think) it's not possible to change dipswitch-type inputs from artwork yet. - to get better clickable area coverage on the buttons, for now, just make multiple 'listeners' (see the internal artwork simon.lay: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/layout/simon.lay)
Still, what's been done is MUCH appreciated!
Also, I'll add: there's much more handheld games/devices in this general CPU family either added already coming down the pipe soon-ish. Stop Thief "Electronic Crime Scanner", Code Name: Sector, Comp IV, Star Wars Battle Command, several TI calculators, maybe soon Coleco Amaze-A-Tron, and later on possibly Speak&Spell and Speak&Math. You can follow along here for some of the development shenanigans (after it split from the New Dump thread): http://forums.bannister.org/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=97286
Working drivers for the first five I mentioned are already in MESS GIT and you can compile from source until next release. https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/drivers/cnsector.c https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/drivers/comp4.c https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/drivers/starwbc.c https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/drivers/stopthie.c https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/mess/drivers/ticalc1x.c

Too bad that will likely require an update within the rendering/artwork support files.

What has been done so far over a three month span with the various 1970s/1980s handheld game support is really impressive. I am so looking forward to when the various Mattel Electronics handheld games are emulated/preserved. That was my archaic generation of "gameboy" gaming.
