Lots of anti comments on the movie page, but they're off-base or personally idiosyncratic. I might go so far as saying this movie is the best I've seen on video gaming in general, because it's so comprehensive, it gives fair shake to....everything.....and it's contemporary in its approach. (In particular the stats element shines here, and is useful.)
Sure I knew about everything if not everything it said about the emergence of video games, the golden age, etc. But it was done well.
I didn't know much of shit about console gaming after about '87, and I learned about it without having to have go through it (bleh), or even sifting through a bunch of shit all over online (equal bleh).
And, any lay/non-hobby person would learn all there is necessary to know about video games if they watched this.

I watched both movies, as well as the new "Gamer Age" film from the guys at Twitch, and all three are very good, and offer something different for the viewer. I thought Videogames The Movie was enjoyable despite the hate and backlash it's getting. These wannabe hardcore gaming nerds on the net love to hate things just to be cool. If a movie doesn't touch upon a game or specific subject they're into, it's an automatic failure in their eyes.
