mame stuck in windowed mode in xp
#327628 - 06/30/14 11:25 PM

Hi
I have looked all over this fantastic forum but can not find the answe.

Mame in windows xp stays as a window in the middle of my screen, but i have told it to go full screen not window mode, i dont want to stretch the game to fit my monitor , i just want it to take up the rest of my screen with the black border i get when running this same version of mame in windows vista.

Why is xp doing thid? What can i do to fix this as every thing else is ready for my bartop arcade.

What screen mode are you running MAME in? Maybe you're setting a res that you're PC can't do, fullscreen.

Look in mame.ini under the "PER-WINDOW VIDEO OPTIONS" and set everything to auto, then see if it works fullscreen.

Also, you can press alt+ENTER to toggle between windowed and fullscreen mode.

I doubt he'd want to use a UI version in his bartop cab. He may not even have a mouse/keyboard plugged in.

No it should not. UI builds are not endorsed, recommended or supported by mamedev, and have been known to cause issues not present in baseline MAME.

None are now? Hmmm. Still, for configuration's sake, which is really the issue here, and then load via baseline.

I can't think of any possible config mistakes that would cause the behavior he describes.

Now, not installing the latest DirectX runtime, that could do it.

Could you try running mame with verbose enabled and then pasting its contents in this thread?

For example:

mame pacman -verbose > verbose.txt

That might shed more light on what's going on.

Yeah, that would be a little epic-ly dull. Maybe seemingly so to me cos that was a LONG time ago for me.
