Wow. I had to read that several times to understand what you meant. I have no idea what the status of NDS emulation in MESS is, but the answer (to life, the universe and everything) is: Eventually...

Still a tad young to our taste.

Yeah. Although, hypothetically, if we wanted it to be working well by the time it's not, there might hypothetically be devs investigating it already.
They might even hypothetically have asked some guy who does a lot of CPU core work to implement the Thumb version of BLX because the ARM9 BIOS uses it a fair amount. And he might have checked that in as CL#30420.
But that's all just conjecture.

I say hold off on sending the source to the SVN. For now they can work on the project but keep it away from the open on the internet. Same for anything else that is too new for the releases. DS and newer DS still too new. Might get in trouble by Nintendo if this get out in the open.

Nintendo DS emulators have been running commercial games for 8 years.

The last batch of DS games are still on the shelves at my local Target, so they're not quite dead yet (PSP and Wii games are still on sale as well, but the last PS2 games sold out at the start of this year). Maybe in the next year or two.
