Not sure about elsewhere, but the 2000s-era WMS games in Australia ran on standard PC hardware with a 1.5GHz Celeron (complete with the Energy Star logo when booting) running Linux, and took forever to load the game itself after rebooting. The machines themselves were manufactured by Shuffle Master (formerly Stargames) rather than WMS, with WMS simply making games for the platform. On a side note, I wouldn't mind seeing Goanna Gold or Treasure Hunt again...

Likely "standard PC hardware" with dongles and protection (both to stop piracy of the machines and protect the software from tampering)
