XArcade controller + Windows 8.1

I stop in my local Goodwill every so often to see if they have any close out items from Target (picked up several sealed XBox 360/PS3 games for $4 each from there).
Stopped in yesterday and found a boxed XArcade controller with an $8 price tag on it. I snatched it up and brought it home. The box contains the controller and the Playstation 2 adapter. Looks like the controller contains the old PCB without the USB.
I'd like to upgrade it, but wanted to see if anyone has used their XArcade successfully with Windows 8.1.
I have a couple USB controllers that use the HID-compliant game controller driver and they won't work correctly unless I fiddle with the registry first.
Edit: Oops. Meant to post this in PC Hardware/Arcade Cab discussion. Too many tabs open. :P

X-Arcade without the track ball and X-Arcade Trackball works with my Windows 8.1 Pro. No issue at all. Mine isn't the newer version. I don't have a USB on ether of these.

Excellent. My current PC doesn't have a PS/2 port, so I have no choice but to move to the new board (the XArcade site says it won't work properly with a PS/2 -> USB converter).
I will go ahead and place the order.
