Chrome users who also use an SSD as your C drive...

When was the last time you looked at your C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data folder? Christ, mine was like 10GB. After tinkering around, I found it nearly impossible to make Chrome put that data anywhere else. You can't even specify an installation location!
Thank goodness for Symlinks. If you'd like to free up a good chunk of space, open up a command prompt and use the command (for example):
mklink /j "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data" d:\ChromeData
Cut and paste everything inside of that "User Data" folder into your new destination first and delete the actual folder, before using the command.

I don't use chrome, but my daughter does on her laptop. I have also observed the huge waste of space. Ridiculous.

with only 1 drive your best bet is to simply uninstall chrome and delete that entire directory before re-installing. Otherwise, any files you have from old versions that are still valid in new versions will remain in their respective folders (and be used) and persist after an upgrade obsoletes them.
Yes, it's ridiculous but I've come across many web pages that just won't work right on IE and work best on Chrome For example, distance learning sites that use blackboard.

CCleaner gets rid of a lot of GB from Chrome. I have never needed Chrome or plan to use it. I do use Firefox. If Firefox fails, then IE.

Is "blackboard" a Chrome-specific thing? If it isn't, it must either work on other browsers, or be broken. If it is, you could just as easily cite things that ONLY work as intended on IE, because they take advantage of the non-standard things IE does (or has done in the past).
The Chrome-specific online version of Angry Birds eventually needs Chrome to run, supposedly. A thing only working on a specific platform is only cause to use that platform if you need that thing. "Everyone should use an XBone, because you can't play Forza 5 without it."
Damn, I hope they left out the claim that the track at Yas Marina "goes through the hotel" this time.

Nah... but it definitely does not work well with IE. All of my college courses are DL, and I can't afford anym istakes so I just go with what the school/instructor recommends. They say Chrome is best for it, so I'll use it. Since I use it for that, I also use it for any other thing/site that IE doesn't handle well. I can only take so many browsers on my machine before I go nuts... ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon_spin.gif)

I don't get the reference... (is there an "over my head" graemlin?)

The picture (paint skillz FTW!) shows exactly how the track goes "through" the building, with a bit of exaggeration. There are two distinct buildings connected by a walkway, and there's a structure that curves over the two buildings, like a giant tarp. The claim that the racetrack goes through the hotel is based on it going under that misshapen dome, under the walkway, between the two clearly separate buildings.
Food, bye!

These days the shoe's almost entirely on the other foot: quite a few sites work best in Chrome/Firefox/Safari and don't in IE. (I know the cool kids stopped using Firefox 2 years ago, but it's improved a lot since then and I actually daily-drive it in preference to Chrome again). > The Chrome-specific online version of Angry Birds eventually needs Chrome to run, > supposedly.
It literally does; only Chrome implements (P)NaCl. Same with the Chrome-specific online version of MAME.

Opera wins for me. If it don't work/look right in Opera, I'll try FF... with IE as a last resort. No Chrome.
Opera beats FF for ease of use, imo. The Right-click mouse gestures and speed dial rule. FF has better compatibility though.

One of the pluses about Opera is that they recently started using the Chrome rendering engine so with the exception of special stuff like NaCL, sites that work in Chrome will probably work in Opera.

But it's a minus for the web. Looks like WebKit could be the new IE6, where people develop for a certain implementation rather than the standard.

Except that Google forked WebKit as "Blink" and is now developing it independently of everyone else, so there are now 4 major engines (Gecko, WebKit, Blink, and Trident).
