I'm not sure how it's a gray area of copyright. The games are still all copyrighted.

Yeah, it's built using emscripten
There were a few issues the last time I checked, like not supporting any version of IE (it used to work until all the other browsers made a change to keep up with the shifting sand of standards and IE didn't).
JSMESS has been on archive.org for a month or so.
