processor needed for 2D games on mame

hi,
sorry my question is what is the actual needed processor (I3,I5 and how many GHz )to run all 2d games like demon front street fighter alpha 3, knight of valor 2 ecc all (CPS3/IGS PGM/neogeo)?

Most of the drivers you mention are not very demanding, so you can save some cash and buy an old core2duo, which you can overclock easily in case you need more power for some specific games.

cps2/neogeo will run on ancient hardware, pgm games are way more demanding though.
my 2.5ghz c2d gets 1000% on cps2, 600% on neogeo, but just tips 100% on pgm

i don't want OC a new processor. you think a 2 X 3.10GHz, 3MB Cache
22nm, HD Graphics, DDR3, Ivy Bridge , 55W Will do the job?

The old C2D were made to be overclocked.
You could get almost +50% clockspeed while hardly raising temps and voltages 
I haven't bought anything new recently though, but results should be somewhat similar.

For cps2/neogeo it's way more than enough. Should be fine for other 2d systems from that era too.

Ivy Bridge and Haswell don't have the kind of OC headroom the older parts did, but they're also faster at the same clock. The end result is you don't end up running MAME any faster, but you save some power/heat vs. cranking a 2600K or whatever
