sf2jl - Loading save states causes problems with sound
#314955 - 09/22/13 12:09 PM Attachment: 1.zip 592 KB (4 downloads)

I'm using the latest mame64.exe [0.150] on Windows 7 and I'm encountering issues when restoring a save state with Street Fighter II Japan 920312.

The first time the state is restored the background music doesn't play and can take up to 30 seconds before it kicks in.

I've attached the save state which causes this issue.

I took the 0.150 mamedev.org produced binary and tried your save state, it would not even load. I made sure I used the set you mentioned (sf2jl) and started mame with:

mame64 sf2jl -state 1

MAME complains about an invalid header which means the save state was made with a different version of MAME or a version of 0.150 which has been adjusted in some way. I cannot reproduce. I tried a couple fights on my own and saved each one - they restored fine for me for me when I restarted MAME and when I loaded via F7.

It would appear something has changed between 0.150 and my build of the latest revision [SVN r25399].

The state works with that version and causes the problem.

I've attached the .exe as a .zip but I can understand if SVN versions are off limits.

I can the save state load it with current SVN (r25360).. a Ken vs Balrog match.. the music plays for me without any delay. I tried loading via command-line as well as F7, both reacted the same. Try placing the binary in a fresh folder with the save state in STA/sf2ji and see if you can reproduce it with default settings.

save state loads successfully on my end and music/sound effects are also sounding good using MAME 0.150 X64 self compile.

I don't know why it's the case, but I can confirm that this has happened sometimes. Even with a much older version of MAME and with another "Street Fighter II" version (sf2ua). o, yeah, it's something that just happens now and then.

I can reproduce it with the default settings in a fresh folder using the same .exe.

How should I proceed in passing the relevant debug information?
