MAME 0.150 - unevenstretch
#314747 - 09/18/13 11:45 PM

I see this option now under Windows Video Options. What does it do? Does it work with GDI, DDraw, and D3D?

hopefully it means we can now have even-stretching in direct3d. that should make a lot of people happy

at the moment im just trying to get it to do anything by changing unevenstretch from 1 to 0 in mame.ini (plus changing other mame video settings to see if it needs something else to get it to function)

so far nothing though, i cant get it to have any effect

Have you tried using -unevenstretch in command line?

just did that test, regular standard official mame with default settings and -unevenstretch added in the command line

did not see any difference here

if anyone does have any luck using it please report, or if anyone has any info at all thanks

I believe it's for HLSL enabled only.... but I haven't tried it yet.

More correctly, -unevenstretch (the default) gives you the previous MAME behavior. -nounevenstretch restricts scaling to integer amounts, which can make scrolling games look better. It appears that the option was added but hasn't been hooked up yet.

Thanks. I guess we have to wait for it to be implemented before we know which of the video modes it applies to.

Hi Mr Belmont

I notice on my arcade 15 kHz CRT that the option "Switch resolution to fit" (I used this one to obtain the best scrolling pictures) in both the DDraw and Direct3D video modes does not work in mame 150.

Do you know if this problem is related to the this new non implemented option ?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

If you're using a 15kHz monitor, you should probably be using one of the custom MAME builds that are made for an arcade monitor, either CabMAME or GroovyMAME.

Does anyone know if this option has been hooked up yet? If so do we know if it works with GDI, DDraw, and D3D?

Nope. It's not hooked up and the guy who added it quit the project to get crazy Mojang bucks and hang out with the Swedish Bikini Team (hey, you would too if you could). As long as there's an MT entry someone (I'll throw a dart at an org chart and say "hap") will eventually fix it.

I say if that isn't hook up then block it out in the source until someone be willing to work on it. Other wise people gonna ask about this again and again down the road. I don't see any point have a non working option enabled in the source. Seem silly.

Actually, in this case, I fully agree.
