Slowdowns.

Since upgrading to mame 0.149 I have noticed that some games now run under 100%. Can anyone tell me why and is there something i can do to fix it.

You forgot 3 essential pieces of information if anyone is to help answer your question:
What game(s) are you trying?
What are the basic specifications of your computer (cpu speed, memory, video card)?
What version of MAME did you upgrade from?
