Controllers setup get messed up.

Hi,
I got a stick connected to my pc for mame. I use a custom controller file, and in it I get 2 setups, one is default and the other is for neogeo driver.
Now a few days ago I changed 2 keys in game via the menu and it messed up my settings. For some reason, the keys I changed now act as both setups(default and neogeo). I tried copying a backup of the controller's ini, but it does not help.
Any ideas?

im not exactly sure what u are doing but one option which might help is, if u have any finished cfg/ini files which you are happy with and dont want to be changed, set them as read only files and then mame wont write to them ever again. sorry if i didnt understand your question correctly (highly possible)

I got a controller file configured like I want(been using it for a few years). The file has different settings for neogeo games and all other games.
A few days ago, while playing a neogeo game, I changed 2 buttons from the in-game menu under "Input (general)". Since then one of the buttons I changed act as 2 different buttons (one is button 1 and the other is the UI menu), so when I press it, I get the UI menu, but I also press a gameplay button.

it seems, your default.cfg got broken. delete it from cfg folder and you are done.
