I have been away from the scene for some time, I used to be able to goto MAWs and pull the info by release.
Looking to find out what CHDs have been added or changed between version 142 and 149. Is there a list, also is there a need to reprocess any using the tool as had to be done a few times in the past.

Some reading and searching seems to indicate there is a version change from V4 to V5, could anyone provide the steps to convert old to new? Can any audit tools do the update or is it still command line?

chdman copy -i v4.chd -o v5.chd
Keep in mind if your converted CHD changes SHA1 upon conversion then it's bad_dump and it's best to keep the original V4 of this image unless it has been redumped as V5

If you require some Front End you can have a look at this unofficial CHDman FE v1.01
Also, Qt CHDMAN GUI is really nice to use however, I don't think it can update CHDs or rather I prefer to do that manually.

Thanks will clrmame audit v4 as correct when using the newer mame builds? or does it expect conversion. Just not sure if it is worth changing out my old sets chds or just staying where I am since most of the favorites i grew up with are playable.

Everything will audit correctly if you access Settings/compressor TAB and have everything set like THIS
The mismatches listed will be the ones that can be converted correctly, if you wish to do so.
