lua scripts... file location ?
#310465 - 06/17/13 09:02 PM

hi all, I have a few questions about .lua script files:
1. does MAME have (or will have) a "lua_directory" setting in mame.ini ?
2. What folder MAME look for .lua files ?
3. are .lua filenames the same as game names ?
4. can script files for a game be zipped or only unzipped ?
Thanks for the help.

No. > 2. What folder MAME look for .lua files ?
The one specified on the command line, if any. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the OS.
> 3. are .lua filenames the same as game names ?
No. They are whatever filename the user gives on the commandline. > 4. can script files for a game be zipped or only unzipped ?
Probably only unzipped.

http://bit.ly/KX4blT Seriously, it's phenomenally popular in the games development business, and reasonably popular outside it, and even if you haven't heard of it the information isn't hiding.

Most of the TAS-capable/"re-recording" emulators are LUA scriptable as well.

That isn't even comparable. Lua isn't for writing game engines - it's a scripting engine to embed in your game engine.
