CPS2 ROMS and qsound.bin
#310092 - 06/11/13 05:40 PM

Just a clarification since with the last version of MAME (0.148u5), CPS2 games arent launching due to qsound.bin missing.

Will we have to wait for a new MAME version, new CPS2 dumps or the aforementioned file to be released?

Sounds like a newly required ROM that, like any other, you should make available in your ROM path.

Correct. With the advent of new 'device' roms, rather than add the rom to all your games requiring it, you only need one copy compressed as "qsound.zip" and MAME will find it for you.

So, it's basically like neogeo.zip for Neogeo games?

not at the moment. you have to parse the xml output by yourself (check for isdevice & isbios attributes in <game>)

You weakling! Get out your Italian dictionary and grammar books!

(or the digital equivalent of those)
