Many people are infected with HPV and never show any signs or symptoms. It's actually the most common STD out there.
There is a preventative vaccination against it, but it is very controversial with religious/conservatives because they give the shot to teenage children, and we all know that teenagers never have sex

Yeah, it's a bit of a weird one. Supposedly 80% of Australians contract it at some point, but for 95% of those people it goes away in eight to fourteen months. Throat cancer is on the rise though, and an increasing proportion of throat cancers test positive for HPV.
