Hi All,
Is Super Mario World currently broken? When I turn it on I get a message that says "Slot Empty" or something to that effect.
Thanks, Jason

Yes. That's the current state. NSS emulation has begun but still isn't mature. If you want to play the game, you can easily fire up MESS and play without the coin/timer problems that associate NSS titles. The reason it worked (even if forever listed as GAME_NOT_WORKING) is because earlier emulation didn't take any of the NSS components into account and basically ran it like the SNES runs it.
You'll find that many games do work, but some do not, with the new NSS emulation.

you can play the SNES version in MESS (or UME) though and it works perfectly...
it's just the emulation of the subsystem handling coins and timer which is preliminary and blocking in this case

Per the 0.151 release notes...
"-nss.c - Added a new Nintendo Super System bios, Single Cart version 3 [Porchy]"
Does this fix Super Mario World in MAME?
Thanks, Jason

The NSS version is a bit different to the original SNES version - IIRC the NSS version lets you choose which world to start on, but has no save options (does it even have a battery on the cart/PCB?).
