Last time we talked about the fact that MAME/vsync/Direct3D/fullscreen has massive input lag while MAME/vsync/Direct3D/window works fine. (MAME/vsync/DirectDraw/fullscreen works fine as well, but since DirectDraw mode doesn't have some of the visual options, I don't want to use it.)
Some people suggested that it might have to do with the ATI drivers. But the funny thing is: I repeated the test with a computer that has an old nVidia card. And the results are basically the same: Only the combination MAME/vsync/Direct3D/fullscreen has that input lag. Windowed mode works pretty fine.
So, what does that mean? What does it say about Direct3D and fullscreen mode? And can it be prevented?
