MAME Artwork Update - Yay... more artwork...
#308596 - 05/11/13 10:41 PM

SITE UPDATES - May 11, 2013

In-Game Artwork: 10 new games; 3 games updated artwork

Yay, more artwork...

  • Omega Race cockpit is complete. Thanks to TrevEB for borrowing and scanning the artwork, and Antny for the outstanding job cleaning up the bezel, marquee, and the trippy backdrop artwork.
  • Mikonos from Zona Arcade cleaned up my Shadow Dancer bezel scan, along with the Wrestle War artwork from the BYOAC/CAG artwork
  • Roberto Fresca created artwork for Janken Man Kattara Ageru... but I forgot to include it with the last update. Sorry, Robert... it's here now.
  • Retro27 purchased the cocktail instruction cards for the Japan Space Invaders cocktail, and sent the scans my way. These are all cleaned up and pretty, now.
  • Retro27 also pointed me towards some artwork that had been posted over at Gamoover. Thank you to bat968 for the instruction cards for Daytona USA, and to Iro for the instruction card to Sega Rally Championship.
  • gregf showed us a picture of an Extra Bases cocktail, which used the same screen overlay as Space Zap, so that has been added in.
  • Now that it is in official MAME, the artwork for Williams Multi-Game has been moved from the Other Artwork page to the Official Artwork page.
  • Got a copy of the instruction card for Water Match from a nice MAMEDev resource. I did a cleanup job on that one, so there you go.
  • Thanks to joey35car for pointing out that FHMC QBert needed it's own copy of the bezel. That's done.

I also updated the Other Artwork page with similar code to the regular artwork page, so that it will be easier to update all of that. Thanks to Pi for making the code so easy to read, so that it was easy to update.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

running the Dat in Clrmame it prompts renaming kingpinm to kingpin.

There is no archive named maxideal after audit is finished.

There is a minor mistake in the mame artwork.dat

default.lay in archive playch10 has different hashes then the previous dat file even though this file or archive was not updated.

Saw Dullaron's post, too. Thanks.

I was playing around with the file; thought I replaced it with the original one. Looks like I goofed. DAT file updated.

And kingpinm was supposed to be removed last go-round, but I forgot to delete it from my own folder when I made the last DAT. So it is correct now that it is gone.

Thanks for the update. Looks like the top pixel of the top line of space invaders is red (the red block overlays too low) in upright artwork midway / cropped view.. so instead of the invaders being all white, they have a little red hat. Laugh. You can see this on the top invaders initial position when you start a game.

PS - This is regular view, no HLSL used.

I saw that. Even the green ones have white on top of their head. Make them looking old. LOL

Just a hair off.

You mean the built-in view, or one of the artwork views?

The red top/head pixel of the top line of invaders shows in Upright Artwork Midway view (cropped is easiest to see it), but *not* the simple overlay mode. So perhaps the red block is slightly higher and out of the way in the simple overlay mode.

Aahhh... there it is. Should just need a small tweak to fix it. Looks like I need to fix the Taito Upright also. Will get fixed for the next update.

Funny thing, though... the overlay element for the external artwork is setup exactly the same as the internal artwork.

Scaling issue? I've noticed things like that once or twice before, where an overlay would look different in window mode than in full screen mode (can't remember what or when, though).

Are you sure it has nothing to do with this older MT report?

Laugh, indeed, it's traveled from Vista x64 to Win8 x64. I'm using the same MAME settings as 5 years ago.
