Controller Configuration and Rad Mobile

Any way to setup MAME's controller emulation of Rad Mobile to be playable with a modern joysticks/gamepads (e.g., Logitech pad, XBOX 360 pad, PS3 pad, etc.)?
I understand how the original controls work; however, the default MAME settings don't work well with gamepads/controllers. Are there settings that will allow autocentering that makes the game playable with the above mentioned game controllers.
If not, that's fine. Just wondering.

The culprit is analog in input settings (see pic)
By setting this to none I found a lot of games with steering playable in MAME. To set this to none select it then press esc. It will register to none, now underneath set your digital pad or stick . The game will steer normal.

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms
