STV Bios change not staying?

Hey guys. Everytime I try changing bios in STV games (Terra Diver for example) to USA, it always defaults back to Japan when I exit the game then restart. Is this a known bug?
PS - It wasn't noted in the What's New but thanks to Angelo Salese fixing missing graphics in some STV games he also fixed the missing graphics in Terra Diver.

The default BIOS for STV is jp.
make an stv.ini with this..
bios us
...to permanently set region to US for all STV games.

Thanx on info 
I've tried Soukyugurentai/Terra Diver and I've got message reduction is enabled 0102 ; contact mame dev right before the final stage, but the game was fully playable all the way to the end nevertheless.
