> Are you proud or ashamed of the work you do in your job?
I wouldn't last very long at a job I was ashamed of. One summer in college, I got a job making deliveries for a "veteran's charity". It was pretty clear right from the outset that it was a sketchy place. They used aggressive telemarketers to push people into buying various trinkets, with the money allegedly going to charity. It was my job to try to deliver said trinkets and collect the money. I never saw any numbers, but I'm quite sure they donated the bare minimum required to be legal and pocketed the rest, assuming it wasn't just an out-and-out scam. I lasted two days before I quit. I had a lot of reasons for quitting, but a big part of it was that I didn't want to be associated with such a sketchy operation.

LOL. My good friend, back when we were in college, had the job of cleaning sperm out of the hot tub filters between clients at Hot Tub Oasis... a by-the-hour hot tub place.
He was real proud of THAT JOB.
Even funnier... it's still in business 20 years later... just googled it and found it's website:
Hot Tub Oasis

Ha, he was basically a jizz mopper. > Even funnier... it's still in business 20 years later... just googled it and found > it's website: > > Hot Tub Oasis
Yeesh, even the concept sounds gross. I'll bet you can get the clap just breathing the air in there.

When people ask what you do, do you change your job title so that they have any semblance of an idea as to what you do...

I'm my own boss and I haven't come with a job title for me yet. I just say "I have my own company, dedicated to making web sites".

I did when I was in quality assurance, I found the majority of people have no clue what that is. It's easier now, since "computer programmer" is one of those generic professions that everyone understands.

I lasted a little over a year at my last job (carpet cleaner, I won't say which company, but it was the BIG one). Essentially a commission sales job. Get in, squeeze the customer for every penny you can, then on to the next one.
Your quality is shit but your add-on average is good? Great job man! Keep up the good work!
Your quality is great but your add-on average is bad? You need to sell more or we're going to demote you...then cut your hours...then you'll be laid off.
Fuck that place.
