Area 51 Site 4 inputs appear to be incorrect

with my changes in 0.148, the game boots to attract mode, and you can insert coins. however, pressing 1 to start player 1 enables service mode instead, and pressing 2 to start player 2 enters service mode instead. I have not been able to determine what's going wrong.

To be honest, I'm not sure if it has ever worked. The game still labeled straight NOT WORKING for many reasons. BTW, that change that you did with IDE killed another game, Fish Frenzy - http://mametesters.org/view.php?id=4844
Maybe you could look into that?

Probably not, but I thought that I'd try my hand at making it so.

I've just submitted a fix for that one. Fishin' Frenzy works again, and drive detection in ROMs using AMI BIOS (eg Area 51 Site 4 and Calchase) still behave correctly, so I hope that it's fine.

As Tafoid said the inputs have never worked, they are controlled by the Jammit chip on the Jammit board that cannot be dumped it has to be decapped.
I actually sacrificed a Jammit chip and sent it to Guru in hopes that it would eventually make it to the DR. but obviously that will never happen now. :/

Here is a quick pic I took of another spare board showing the chip as well as the interesting comments printed on the board.

That's a quote from 1997's "Men In Black", pretty perfect for an Area 51 game ![](//www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
