I used just a standard hole puncher. Scissors if I was out of disk space and was desperate ...

Man, I can remember that thing! Used to use it all the time with my Commodore 64 1541. HELL, I even had the damn tape drive!

It's interesting as an artifact, I guess, but I'm not sure I'd want to use it. I'd consider myself lucky if I found a 5.25" floppy that was still readable, I wouldn't want to push my luck by punching holes in it.

I have a box of 5.25s I bought as a goof back in the day with a picture of a swimsuit model on the plastic carrier. I wonder if they're worth anything.

If somebody buys that for $50 I'm gonna put the other one up too! Just to buy it for a buck or two I thought would be insane, but $50! Then again, how many people back then paid more than double for a disk that had the notch pre-cut?

You could get away with it *most* of the time. But every once and awhile you would get a set of bum discs where one side would work and the other wouldnt.

Unbelievably someone bought one for $45
I still have this one laying around in a box somewhere. If that one sells for $25 (+ $8 shipping) I'll bet putting mine up on eBay the day after.

That or the disc was too thin to start and eventually you could see through the ruined disk...
