Vector retro video game sprites?
#303140 - 01/24/13 05:41 AM

Is there a repository somewhere that has retro video games that are vectored...maybe in Illustrator format? In other words, I want to be able to resize and print retro sprites without losing quality.

I'm bored with my cubicle at work and I wanna redecorate.

Arcade, Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis characters.

Thanks

I think the cute thing of those sprites reside precisely in the low resolution and the huge pixels when printing in large sizes. I'd print in the original resolution but huge size ^_^

Wouldn't you be able to maintain good quality by doubling the size? (x2, x4, x8, x16, x32, etc.)

Depends on the program and settings you use on it. Most programs would end up with a blurry and ugly picture. For example compare a mame snap first 4x size with default irfanview then try it in photoshop with the nearest neighbor option.

Also because his source image was a PNG, it's a bit easier to scale. BMP or JPG image? Forget about it.

BMP should be the same as PNG but with no lossless compression? With JPG the problem is the compression artifacts get resized up with it and become more noticeable.
