Is it cool to post MESS artwork here? This started as just a quick and dirty way to run MESS fullscreen without having a giant, ugly Gameboy screen filling my monitor. I hadn't planned on sharing it, but I ended up putting a fair amount of work into it and I rather like how it came out.

Very cool.
Somewhere down the road, I'll probably add a MESS artwork section to the site. Gonna be awhile, though, already spreading myself thin now ;-)

If you do, let me know, and you can take all my artwork and I'll close down my page on the messui site.

I merged your artwork and DMala's into one artwork (choose Cropped Artwork or Full screen Artwork).
It would be better if the buttons color matched, but is not a big deal

This... is awesome.
Please upload.

It looks awesome, but back in the days of the Atari 2600, TVs had knobs for VHF and UHF as well as the volume. I don't know anyone who had digital tuners on their TV until much later. To be authentic, it should have a VHF knob tuned to channel 3 or 4.

Noted. But I found that there were few or no large-sized photos online of a face-on view of a circa 1977 television (at least none I could stand to look at for long periods of time), so I went with what I could find and vectorized it. I agree that knobs would have been cool, but I just sort of pretended it was 1983 and we were still playing Atari 2600. *shrug*
Besides, if you really want authenticity, you could put red shag carpet and a Farrah poster in the background, maybe a photo of Mom bitching you out for not having your homework done... All depends on how authentic you want to get. I just wanted something that didn't look like pixellated ass when stretched across a 50" screen.

There were console televisions that had the knobs hidden behind little door, so you're good.
I was on the low end of middle class growing up, so I didn't know anyone who had an ATARI 2600 until 1981 and I didn't get mine until Christmas of 1981. I think that the price had dropped to around $125 by then. I was still playing it well past 1983.
